Recycling Event to Benefit the Woburn Historical Society
Are you wondering what to do with that old television, computer monitor or appliance that is broken, unwanted or unused and just taking up space?
Paul Medeiros has found and is working with a Massachusetts company that will collect these items at drop off sites set up throughout Woburn at various times throughout the year. This is an excellent opportunity to recycle these items at a minimal cost, compared to the high cost associated with curbside appliance recycling programs and will also be a fundraiser for local organizations that will sponsor these events. read more »

The New Business Express program is for small businesses with 50 or fewer employees. For some businesses with five or fewer employees, the savings may be more than $300 per employee per year. Select network plans may offer savings that range from 10 to 15 percent. Watch Out for Local Aid Cuts
Here we go again in Reading. Approximately 4 months after Town Meeting defeated the meals tax increase by rejecting the emergency argument, the Town decided it is time to take the issue up again at the next Town Meeting in April. Apparently, a Town Meeting decision isn't respected unless it is the decision that the Town Officials want. One of the Selectmen (Richard Schubert) went so far as to say that the meals tax should always be on the Town Meeting Warrant until it passes. read more »

SCI's Policies Regarding Politics
Some of you have noticed political postings made on our website. You may see writings of a political nature under recent blog entries, or as comments under other content. You will notice, however, that these writings are all authored by private individuals with no connection to SCI.
I want to make it clear that we at SCI do not endorse any political party, candidate, or cause.
However, this site is intended to be a forum for the citizens of Woburn to talk about subjects that are important to our community. Those who wish to submit blog entries or comments relating to political matters may do so. We will do our best not to hinder or censor anyone's speech, or give aid to any particular argument, so long as the conversation is kept civil.
