Recycle

I get asked all the time what can I do with rechargeable batteries that no longer work or are no longer needed.

On Saturday, April 19th from 10:00AM to 2:00PM Woburn will be celebrating its annual Earth Day program at the Woburn Mall, 300 Mishawum Road and is being sponsored by WREN (Woburn Residents Environmental Network) and The Woburn Mall. The reason for this letter is to ask you to get involved in some way with our program. There is no charge to set up a display and tables can be provided also at no cost.

At our appliance collections and when I was involved with the cities quarterly collections we would get asked about other items and how to dispose of them.

One such item is latex paints.

The following is an excerpt from the cities web site which explains how to dispose of these non hazardous items in their solid form.

It's not too early to think about yard waste recycling.

Woburn's 2008 Yard Waste schedule:
Yard waste pickup will occur during the following weeks on your normal trash day.  Please use yard waste bags or barrels without lids.  NO PLASTIC BAGS.  Please cut branches to 3 feet in length, no larger than 2 inches in diameter.  Branches must be bundled and tied.

The Green Team is an interactive educational program that empowers students and teachers to help the environment through waste reduction, reuse, recycling and composting.

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection provides resources to help GREEN TEAM members learn how to reduce waste and rewards classes that successfully complete one or more of the suggested activities...
