YMCA's Midwinter Fling

January 21, 2009 by Shea

fruitcake freedomDo you hate getting fruitcake for Christmas?  Do you want to DEMOLISH the most EVIL of confectionary items?  Then come down to the Midwinter Fling on Sunday, January 25th at the North Suburban YMCA located on 137 Lexington Street, where with a world class catapult, we'll throw your fruitcake across the Woburn YMCA's Field! It's so simple and yet so rewarding:  Bring a fruitcake, gingerbread house, or any other compostable item you like (or hate as the case may be) and for a $5 donation, send it flying through the air to its great reward via our catapult.  The event will run from 10:00AM until 4:00 PM, and we will have great food and fun for kids of all ages including: snowpainting, face painting, and depending on material availability, snowman making!  All of this will be to benefit the North Suburban Viking swim team in their quest for a start system for the pool.

cute dog and catIf you are looking for a fun event to spice up this Holiday season, bring your dog or cat to have their photo taken with Santa Claus at the Woburn Mall on Sunday, December 14th from 7PM to 9PM. So trim those nails and even dress them up in their cutest Holiday finery if you like!  A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem, Ma. to help other lost or displaced animals find homes and the love and care they need this season.  Just remember, dogs and cats only, please, nothing more exotic.
