Yesterday's CoffeeHouse featured Iyeoka Ivie Okoawo and the Funk Tribe.
The Boston-based Nigerian-American performing artist and poet, along with her band The Funk Tribe, played an invigorating 49-minute set for the enthusiastic crowd.
The evening opened with a performance by SCI members Heather Gately on vocals and Mike Sances on guitar. When it came time for open mic, frequent CoffeeHouse attendee Donna Nagle played two songs for the audience, followed by three songs from Belkys Velez, and two poems from Brendan Trider, who closed the show.
Coffee was donated by the Starbuck's Coffee at 200 West Cummings Park. We look forward to seeing everyone at our next CoffeeHouse on April 23rd.
