newspaperDo you have an interest in the newspaper business?  Do you want to see how the news gets from the street to your home?  Do you just want to have the nickname "Scoop"?  Community Newspaper Company, including the Woburn Advocate, is now accepting applications for summer internships from college students. Interns will be partnered with a specific newspaper staff to learn the fundamentals of reporting and will be working for both our print and online editions. As part of the news team, the intern can expect to have his or her bylined work published. Internships are part-time, unpaid positions. Interns must be receiving college credit to be accepted into CNC’s program.

You be the judge! It’s not too late to help shape this year’s Summer Concert Series!  Come and help decide who stays and who goes for this year's Jack Marlowe Park Summer Concert Series. Come and listen to potential bands that could perform this summer. You can also bring any bands that you would like to nominate. The second meeting will be held on February 24th from 7:00 P.M to 8:30 P.M.

At the annual member demonstration, Woburn Guild of Artists members will be demonstrating in different mediums.  The demonstration will be held at New Horizons Choate, Terrace Lounge at 7:00 on February 26th, 2009. The different paint mediums will be ranging from water color to woodcarving to working in pencil.  This is a chance for members to show off their talents and learn from each other as well as to mingle and snack.

Looking for a job that pays great and is close to home? At a recent Woburn Community Network meeting, Judy Tanner of the Council of Aging mentioned there will be testing at the Senior Center for Census Jobs.  The US Census Bureau is looking for people to help with the Census count in 2010. If you are interested in applying for a job with the US Census Bureau there are a few things you can do.

The Woburn Repertory Community Theatre is bringing up the curtain again at the Woburn Memorial High School (W.M.H.S.), located at 88 Montvale Ave., for the second production, the musical Godspell.  The show runs February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21 at 8:00pm; as well as on February 22 at 2:00pm in the school’s state of the art Performing Art Center, Tickets are $22; $16 for students and senior citizens, and are available at the door or by going on-line at

Boys and Girls Club LogoThe Boys and Girls Club of Woburn is holding it's Annual $25,000 Pot of Gold Raffle.  Tickets are $100 and the grand prize drawing will be drawn March 14th, 2009 at the St. Patrick Day Social at the Boys and Girls Club of Woburn, located at 1 Charles Gardner Lane.  All net proceeds go to support your Boys and Girls Club.
