Youth Civic Showcase

No matter what, I always get far more out of wonderful events like that than I could possibly contribute, and I am writing to thank you for the invitation to attend.

I spoke to the "Don't SPOT the Dot" group alone, and asked about rats; they reported that the population declined, and that a Chinese grocer had been very surprised and appreciative that his rat problem had been resolved when he was encouraged to cease his practice of keeping oils and other "food" near, not in, the dumpster. (Duh, but it certainly showed the group that adults could be stupid, yet could be taught.) The group elaborated on the varmint issue by mentioning that the bigger problem was pigeons, particularly those nesting on the overpass, and their nasty excrement. I tipped them off that they should publicize that issue and when the pigeons' fouling (couldn't resist the pun) eventually chewed up the metal, the community should insist that the infrastructure designers create curved surfaces that prevented nesting.

I hope that Carla Bowdoin will contact me about some grantwriting, and that your professor will communicate with me about Obama. As Obama said in 2004: help is on the way.

I'm on facebook, too.
