Woburn Youth Council: An Overview
"In the Youth Council, I have learned many aspects of community service and civic engagement. I've discovered the ins and outs of organizing events, where to go to get more involved in community projects, and I have gained a lot of experience in dealing with others."

Who We Are
Established in 2002, the program engages a diverse group of 12 to 18 year olds in making a difference in the community. This program is coordinated by SCI and the Boys & Girls Club of Woburn, in partnership with the North Suburban Family YMCA, and funded by the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer Foundation. Through the distribution of mini-grants, other youth projects, and implementing other civic initiatives Youth Council members are able to proactively engage in community issues. They receive leadership training and ongoing support from adult advisors to coordinate the mini-grant process and address community issues of concern to them. As community leaders, they also encourage their peers to become active young citizens. Our members have developed practical skills, learned the importance of leadership and teamwork, and have gained a better knowledge of community issues.
