Woburn local intro

Hello Woburn local members--let me chime in with my reasons for signing up for this group.  Of course, I have general interest in building up our local community that is reflected in my work developing SCI.  But I think what really grabbed my attention about this new group, from David E's posts, was it's connection to personal passion for tasty, healthy food. I have to say, up until fairly recently I would simply buy food that looked fresh and tasty, with a general preference for organic and whole foods.  Whole Foods is my main grocery store of choice, even more so now that my son has numerous food allergies.But in the past year, I've gotten  much more focused on trying to purchase more local foods.  The price of food and fuel certainly prompted me to become more of a "locavore".  I read Omnivore's Dilemma this summer which further got me going in this direction. (will have to post my review of that).  Connecting more of the food my family and I eat to a particular place, grown by a particular person, definitely enriches the eating experience.  I've enjoyed going to the new farmer's market in Winchester on Saturday's over the summer...perhaps one of these days we'll need to bring one to Woburn!Anyway, I'll sign off for now, looking forward to hearing from others.
