Woburn Historical Society's Tour of the First Burial Ground
On Sunday October 6, the Woburn Historical Society will be hosting their Walking Tours of the First Burial Ground. This event will be occurring multiple times throughout the afternoon. The first tour will begin at 12:00 pm, the second tour at 1:30 pm, and the final tour takes place at 3:00 pm. It is advised that you check in 15 minutes prior to your tour at the Social Center located on the ground floor of the First Baptist Church located at 3 Winn Street. Please enter through the Park Street entrance. There will also be parking available at the Church or at the Woburn Public Library lot.
Did you know that Woburn's historic First Burial Ground, is one of the oldest cemeteries in the United States? This outdoor museum was established with the Town and the First Parish in 1642 and closed in 1784 when the Second Burial Ground, located on Montvale Avenue was created. In 2004, this cemetary was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
