The Woburn Guild of Artists will be sponsoring an Open Painting Workshop featuring noted artist Caleb Stone. The workshop will be open to non-member artists as well as members.

Caleb Stone will work with students in their chosen medium of either oil or watercolor. "I was fortunate to have grown up in the art colony of Rockport, Massachusetts and to have been exposed to plein air painting by my father, Don Stone, and his associates at a very early age. My attraction to the American and French Impressionists and my choice of Art as a career grew from and was nurtured by this environment.

Following highschool, Caleb studied Art at the Lyme Academy in Connecticut. Since that time he has been regularly teaching, traveling and painting.

He works in both oil and watercolor. He has been the recipient of numberous awards including the John Stobart Fellowship for Outdoor Painting and the Carleton Wiggins Scholarship for Painting.

Caleb first visited Monhegan Island in 1971 and has been going regularly ever since. He offers weeklong painting workshops on the island each spring and fall.

He also offers weekly painting workshops at his studio in Ipswich, MA. For a full calendar and to see his works to go www.monhegan.com/artists/stonec/.
