When is the right time to begin what we are free to do anytime?

With gasoline priced over $4.00 a gallon and heating oil approaching $5.00 a gallon, many of us are making adjustments. We are reacting to these unfamiliar realities and their many effects, which are anything but static.

Any of us can immediately make simple adjustments, like giving up certain activities, treats or comforts without asking for anyone's opinion or help. Many of us like it that way, and of course it's what we should do for ourselves. However, beyond the simple, private ones, there are rewarding adjustments that involve proactive coordination and cooperation with people we can see, hear, touch and know. If prices keep increasing, such adjustments might become attractive to most of us. Private sacrifices get you only so far!

We can, and I believe we should, use both ways of coping, because we want to thrive, not just survive. Those already curious about the rewards of localized proactivity are invited to a meeting I will convene in early July (date, time & place tbd). Let me know who you are so I can keep you informed.

Because of my concern and interest, this is an open-ended invitation; I will repeat it (or call attention to it, since it will be stored here) now and then.

When is the right time to begin?

Hi David,

Today is the time to think, choose and act! The choices we make need not be looked upon as burdens. We can instead look at them as new and exciting opportunities and experiences.

Our journey will likely start from within. We can choose to walk our path alone or we can look for a buddies who are on the same journey. The latter can be more rewarding.

Please let me know when you have a meeting date.

Responding to rising costs

Hi David--With the rapidly escalating fuel prices, I've thought of conversations we've had on this subject.  Glad to see you're taking some proactive steps on this, and using this web space as a place to share.
