Scouts Return from Trip to New Jersey to Help with Hurricane Clean Up Efforts

Boy Scouts Hurricane Sandy Relief Effort

SCI would like to recognize these Scouts as our Social Capitalists of the Month! Over 75 Boston Minutemen Scouts recently returned from a weekend trip to New Jersey to help clean up debris left over from Hurricane Sandy. Troop 519 in Woburn along with Troop 502 brought supplies and donations with them to aid Jersey Shore families.

The troops were quite busy over the weekend. On Saturday, December 1, they helped cut down trees, split wood, chipped large piles of brush and helped get a local camp back into working condition.

On Sunday, December 2, they donated a 16' box truck filled with donated cleaning supplies, clothes, school supplies, and bottled water to a local church that was assisting with relief efforts in hard hit areas.

The Boston Minutemen Scouts visited Tuckerton, NJ where a good number of homes on the shore had been destroyed. They delievered 60 buckets of cleaning supplies to residents in the area.
