Professor Harp, otherwise known as Hugh Homes, was born and raised in Boston. He was a Rock 'n Roll drummer until 1969 when a combination of two things happened; the Boston Blues revival and witnessing a performance by George Allen "Harmonica" Smith. The combination of these two events turned him into a blues harp player, otherwise known as the harmonica.
He has been described as a singing and harmonica playing powerhouse, while being deeply rooted with earlier Blues masters such as Muddy Waters, Little Walter, George Smith & Jimmy Reed.
Professor Harp has entertained for over 35 years with various bands throughout the Northeast including legends Solomon Burke and Luther 'Guitar Jr.' Johnson and played live on NBC's Today Show.
He'll surely have the City of Woburn jiving to his Texas style Blues when he comes to the Jack Marlowe Park Summer Concert Series on Friday, August 7th from 7:00 - 9:00. This is a performer you won't want to miss. I'm already craving Texas style ribs and sweet tea just thinking about it!
