Mission of Deeds Fundraiser at St. Mary's

On Sunday, Nov. 23, the Winchester High School Symphony will be joined by the 80-voice Scituate High School Chorus for a performance of one of choral literature’s most well-known masterworks, Schubert’s Mass in G. The performance will take place at St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester, at 3 P.M.  The event is a fundraiser for the Mission of Deeds, a not-for-profit agency that provides furniture and other essential household items to those in need throughout Middlesex and Essex Counties.

Admission to the event is free, but voluntary contributions will be collected at the performance. Cash raised at the event will be used by the Mission to purchase mattresses, box springs, and bed frames for families referred by social service agencies such as shelters, elder care agencies, and hospitals. Many of those served are mothers and their children who have lived at shelters for homeless and battered women. Others receiving assistance include the elderly, especially those who have been abandoned by family members.  The Winchester High School Symphony looks forward to making its first Mission of Deeds fundraiser a success.
