Join America on the move!

The North Suburban YMCA staff is asking area residents to join them Saturday, Sept. 20 through Saturday, Sept. 27 for a week full of fun and exciting events and activities meant to encourage individuals and families to live a healthy and active life.
America On the Move is a national non-profit initiative dedicated to improving the health and quality of life by promoting healthy eating and active living for individuals, families, and communities.The goal is to encourage individuals and families to make two small changes each day; take 2,000 more steps (or activity equivalent) and eat 100 fewer calories (by eating smarter).
This year the North Suburban YMCA in Woburn will hold a variety of events and activities for all ages to celebrate America On the Move Week which will kick off on Saturday, Sept. 20. Starting with the 5 Mile Classic sponsored by Excel Orthopedics, the race will begin 9:30 a.m., at the North Suburban YMCA. To register for the race stop by the North Suburban YMCA and fill out a registration form or visit www.active.com and register online.
Then on Sunday, Sept. 21, the North Suburban YMCA will host a Community Walk and Scavenger Hunt around Horn Pond in Woburn at 3 p.m., (sign up for this event at the front desk). The fun will continue throughout the week with the events listed below.

Saturday, Sept. 20
9:30 a.m., North Suburban YMCA 5 Mile Classic sponsored by Excel Orthopedics
2-3:30 p.m., Get in a great workout and have a blast with Freddy’s Class

Sunday, Sept. 21
8 a.m., Try out an Aqua Aerobics Class
3 p.m., Community Walk and Scavenger Hunt around Horn Pond

Monday, Sept. 22
6-6:30 p.m., “Jump For Your Health!” North Suburban YMCA jump rope contest.
6:30 p.m., Childhood Obesity Seminar

Tuesday, Sept. 23
6:30-7:15 pm Karate For Kids (6 years and up)

Wednesday, Sept. 24
6:30-7:30 p.m., Rock Climbing in the gym (adults and children welcome)

Thursday, Sept. 25
6:30-7:15 pm Karate For Kids (6 years and up)

Friday, Sept. 26
5:15 pm Dive For Treasures in the North Suburban YMCA swimming pool

Saturday, Sept. 27
2 p.m., Field Day — Obstacle courses, relay races, bounce house, sports, prizes.
3:-4 p.m., Ultimate Frisbee

Sunday, Sept. 28
2-3 p.m., Family Snorkel in the North Suburban YMCA pool
