Appliance/Freon Bearing/CRT Device Recycling

Wondering what to do with that old television, computer monitor or appliance that is broken, unwanted or unused and just taking up space?

Paul Medeiros has found and is working with a Massachusetts company that will collect these items at drop off sites set up throughout Woburn at various times throughout the year. This is an excellent opportunity to recycle these items at a minimal cost compared to the high cost associated with curbside appliance recycling programs and will also be a fundraiser for local organizations that will sponsor these events. Another good thing and possibly the best part of this program is that it is open to residents from any and all communities, not just Woburn, as well as any and all business entities. With your help these collections have raised over $19000 dollars for local organizations so far. So clean out those basements, attics, garages and warehouses and bring them down!

This collection will be on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Hurld School  which is at 75 Bedford Road in Woburn from 9 A.M. to 1 P.M. with the proceeds going to the PTO for their many programs. If you miss this collection the next one will be held at the Altavesta School on Main Street from 9-1 on May 17, 2008. There are also collections scheduled for 6-15-8 (WREN) , 9-20-8 (SCI) & 12-20-8 (TBA).

Thanks

Thank you to all of the people that brought their items to this collection on this cold and wet March day to be recycled, save money over the cities curbside collection and support these collections for Local organizations.

These collections are a huge win and positive for the city of Woburn. They help the environment, residents and businesses of all communities and provide needed funds to local organizations. They also provide jobs for Massachusetts residents as our hauler is a state liscenced Massachusetts business and recycler.

This event raised almost 3000 dollars for the Hurld School PTO projects. It was overwhelming and made me proud to see the amount of parents and children that came out to lend a hand on this collection.

Thanks to the Woburn Daily Times, Woburn Advocate, WPMC, Woburn Library and School Department for helping to get the word out about these collections.
A huge Thank You to the folks from WREN, Lori, Kathy and Ralph that help at each and every one of these collections and the DPW for providing the horses for traffic safety and direction.
We hope to see you in May at the Altavesta School.
