Do you or somebody you know volunteer your time? Want to be recognized for your time as a volunteer? What better way to get recognized then during a week long national recognition event? National Volunteer Work is just that, a week long national recognition event that is taking place on April 19th to April 25th this year. SCI is looking for your input as a volunteer or as a volunteer manager on what you would like to see take place during this week long recognition event.
The Woburn Civic Welcome Wagon is still in need of volunteers to help welcome new families for the Holiday Season and the New Year. The Welcome Wagon is made up of current Woburn residents who have volunteered to go out and greet people and families who have recently moved to the Woburn area. New residents are greeted with a booklet of helpful information including local government figure information, helpful Woburn websites, and a calendar of events among other things.
The booklet also includes important numbers such as to city departments, local schools, and local Woburn hospitals and emergency numbers. It also includes detailed information about local organizations and other generally helpful information to have if you are new to Woburn. Along with the booklet new residents get voter registration information, postal service information, a small gift, and most importantly a familiar face to say "hello" to!
