SCI is putting on its Woburn Holiday House Tour again this year. The Holiday House Tour will give you the chance to tour some of Woburn's most interesting and best-decorated homes.
The Tour will happen on Sunday, December 6th, from 2pm to 5pm.
The Holiday House Tour is a community effort, and we still have a lot of work to do. We need to:
On Sunday, September 27 - 1 to 5pm - an open house featuring a Victorian-style tea will be held at the Federal-style Tidd house, the oldest part of which was built in 1809.
Located in a section of Woburn once known as New Bridge Village, the original structure was completed in 1809 by Lt. Jonathan Tidd, a wealthy leather manufacturer. Built as a hotel for stage-coach passengers making their way along Elm Street which was then the main route from Boston to Lowell and Nashua, New Hampshire, the hotel provided hearty meals and occasional overnight lodging to weary passengers.
Since 1889, the house has been a unique residence for seniors, providing safe and affordable housing for seniors that allows them to continue to lead independent, fulfilled lives.
The time is fast approaching for our Holiday House Tour. We are now in the final planning stages of our event, and our next meeting will be focusing on volunteers for the event, as well as decoration ideas, transportation, and ticket sales/locations. We welcome anyone to our planning meeting to help finalize any decisions that need to be made regarding preparations and logistics for the event. This is also a last minute reminder that our next planning committee meeting will be held on Monday Nov. 10th, at the New Horizons building on 21 Warren Ave. at 7PM. We have also begun to sell tickets to our event, which can be purchased from our website here, or at the North Suburban YMCA and McCue's Florist, both located in Woburn. More locations will be available in the weeks before the event.
