Nepalese/American Street-Food Fair this Sunday!

Join the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer this Sunday, June 25 from 4-8pm at their Nepalese/American Street-Food Fair! It will be held at the church location, 60 Forest Park Rd., Woburn MA. There will be lots of good food, music & plenty of parking! The event is a fundraiser for Justice For Our Neighbors (JFON), to provide legal services for immigrants living in and near Woburn. 

Ticket prices are as follows:
$30 per person
$25 for seniors
$50 for couples
$80 for family of 4
$70 for family of 3
Kids under 8 eat free

Food available will include: Nepalese dumplings (momo), grilled veggies, corn on the cob, ribs, burgers & hot dogs, Newari-style spicy chicken (chhoila), Nepalese-style chicken (sekuwa), fruit salad & watermelon.

On Saturday, June 3 from 5-11pm, the St. Anthony Church in North Woburn will be hosting its annual festival in honor of the patron Saint Anthony. It will be held at the grounds of the church at 851 Main St., Woburn MA. Mass will take place at 4pm, followed by the festival beginning at 5pm.

The festival will feature the Soul Shakers Band, music by DJ Master Scratch, amusements, food, beer & wine, children's games and lots of chances to win great prizes! False News program with Dr. Melissa Zimdars

The Woburn Public Library, in collaboration with Woburn Public Schools, will be hosting a False News program featuring Merrimack College Communications Studies professor, Dr. Melissa Zimdars. The event will take place on Thursday, May 11 from 7-8pm at Woburn Memorial High School. Dr. Zimdars has recently received national recognition for creating a list of "false and misleading" news sources. She helps audience members recognize fact from fiction through an engaging discussion and Q&A session.

Join the Winchester Multicultural Network, the Board of Selectmen and the School Committee on Thursday, May 18 from 7-9pm at the Sanborn House Historical and Cultural Center (15 High St., Winchester) for the town’s third Civic Gathering.

Groups of people who live and/or work in Winchester have addressed concerns about intolerance, inequity and divisiveness through various initiatives, promoting: active bystander/upstander training; intergenerational dialogues; civic education; awareness of Winchester’s Human Rights Statement and core values; collaboration between town organizations; diversity among staff and multicultural professional development in our schools; a community culture that is welcoming; dialogues across political differences; and interfaith collaborations to support refugees.

On May 18, attendees will learn about these and other efforts where community members will share information about the activities and plans of the working groups, with the goal of maximizing impact through awareness and collaboration.
 

Book Talk with Ali Noorani

The Codman Square Health Center is hosting a book talk with Ali Noorani, Executive Director of the National Immigration Forum. It will focus on his new book, There Goes the Neighborhood: How Communities Overcome Prejudice and Meet the Challenge of American Immigration. The event will be held on Tuesday, May 9 at 2pm at the Black Box Theatre in Dorchester.

Taking place in WorldFest allows your organization or business to showcase its unique culture and diversity, as well as providing a platform to advertise a performance or food dish that represents your business.
